How to Host the Ultimate Halloween Bash

I’m so excited that Halloween is officially next week! While some parties will take place this weekend, the next couple of days are full of some fun planning for me and the family. Apart from getting our costumes in check, I’m honing in on my plans for the holiday. A lot of you always ask me for some party hosting tips and today you’re in luck! Halloween parties are some of my favorites, and I love having guests over for the fun at home. I’ve listed some tips for you to plan an epic Halloween bash, grown-up style. Enjoy!

Get Creative With Your Invites

A fun party always starts with the right invitations. I like to create custom invitations for any event that I’m hosting, and it’s no different for Halloween! If you’re not a fan of paper invitations, you can still customize digital invites to send out to your guests via email. Personalization makes things fun, and it sets the tone for what to expect from your party! Don’t forget to keep tabs on your RSVP list.

Create The Ultimate Halloween Playlist

To keep everyone in the mood and (hopefully) share their best dance moves, you’ll need a killer playlist. Put together a well-thought-out mix of both chill and upbeat tunes, along with some Halloween classics along the way. Chances are you’ll guests will want to dance at some point in the night, and if that’s not the vibe it’s still great to hear in the background.

Go All Out With Your Decorations

I never ever skimp out on decorations! It’s one of my favorite parts of planning a party, and Halloween always inspires some of the most creative decorating I’ve ever seen. You can decorate everything from your lawn to your entryway and all around the inside of your home. The overall aesthetic is entirely up to you and your personal taste! Do you prefer spooky or a classic black and orange palette with some jack-o’-lanterns? Either way, your home is bound to look amazing and ready for a Halloween bash. Serve Halloween-Themed Food and Drinks

Aside from looking the part, your Halloween party must have great food and drinks for your guests. Last week on the blog I shared a variety of Halloween cocktails to sip on during a grownup night out. This week on Instagram, I shared a Halloween-themed charcuterie board IGTV (click here to watch!). Some good options for snacks are deviled eggs, pigs in a blanket, a charcuterie board, and desserts like Halloween-themed cookies or a spooky cake. You can make this a DIY situation or head to the local grocery store for some ready-to-eat treats!

Plan Games And Activities For Your Guests

No party is complete without fun and games—literally. After your guests have snacked on some hors d’oeuvres and sipped some drinks, it’s time to let loose and let the games begin. Whip out some adult card games or plan a murder mystery to solve for the evening. You’ll have some fun stories to look back on after!

Set A Theme

Yes, you can still set a theme on Halloween! I love themed parties, but I especially love when my guests really take the theme seriously. For the 31st, some great themes include zombies, film and TV characters, or pop culture icons. Watch your guests bring out their most creative side at the party!

Create A Party Hashtag for Instagram

Since we’re living in the age of social media, why not make the memories last with an online album? The best way to look back on all your photos of the night is by revisiting your custom hashtag. It’s also just a fun way for all of your guests to get in on the fun and start posting!
