Shine Darling: My Austin Uniform

Summer is one of my favorite fashion seasons. Not only do I get to dress the part for our family vacations—this year we took the kids to Italy and to our annual #CampBosh outing on a ranch in Wyoming—but I love the ease of a throwing on a sundress and some sandals and calling it a day.

Here are some of the pieces I was really into this summer:

YES TO THE DRESS

I practically cleaned J. Crew out of their inventory this year, because their sundresses are easy and light and made from soft, comfortable fabrics. I’m not afraid to wear a pop of color—I wore a red dress similar to this one to some of our favorite spots in Venice—so I love this breezy yellow number with tie sleeves. You can’t go wrong in a mini wrap dress in a classic gingham print. And I love a dress that you can transition from day to night by throwing on a chunky necklace, like this off-the-shoulder linen dress with button details.

CAFTAN LINES

I live in robes at home, so I’ve also been known to throw on a summer caftan. They’re so comfortable, and I love that they can go from the pool or the beach to lunch in a breeze. The colors on this printed silk Maikos caftan are so vibrant, and the pop of red in this Natori cotton and silk number give it a little something extra.

HATS OFF

I’m a big fan of hats for a couple of reasons: Not only do they really top off an outfit, but they protect your face at the same time (I’m a sunscreen fanatic—you always have to protect your face!). This summer, I practically lived in Eugenia Kim’s hats, like this playful but pretty Brigitte straw boater hat with a grosgrain ribbon detail, and this wider-brimmed Honey woven sun hat.

SUNNIES OUTLOOK

Sunglasses are a summer essential. This year I haven’t left the house without my favorites from Chloe. I love the shape and gold tone of these round Carlina frames, or this brow bar version when I’m feeling more classic.
