Earlier this month I headed to New York City for one of my favorite events of the year—New York Fashion Week! I love seeing what’s coming to stores next season and love seeing the designs of each individual piece because at the end of the day, the entire collection is a work of art meant to be appreciated and awed over. This season was extra special because I got to share the full blown NYFW experience with my baby girl, Dylan Skye!
For those of you who don’t know, Dylan is a little fashionista at heart- she loves drawing and practices her fashion sketches every single day (specifically Juno’s Fantastic Fashion Adventure). I knew she would love attending the shows and I hoped it would inspire her to continue pursuing her love of fashion. And of course Chris joined us for the fun, to be a supportive dad and because he also has a love for fashion! From looking at designs to running around NY together, to trying on dresses and jewelry galore- this will be an experience we will all never forget!
My good friend Rebecca Minkoff (who also happens to be one of my fave designers) took the time to meet Dylan and hang out with us for a bit during her presentation. Her showcase was full of diversity presented through the models, which means a lot for women everywhere. She also celebrated the launch of Little Minkoff, a sustainable kids collection. One of my favorite things about Rebecca is how she’s so innovative and always caters to what women and moms need!
Another special moment was when my friend Wes Grodon, creative director of Carolina Herrera, invited us to the house’s studio. This was really special for Dylan, as she got to see some sketches, designs up close, and even tried on some Carolina Herrera jewels. Her heart was beaming! I was genuinely so fulfilled after watching her face just light up as the models would pass us. Plus Carolina Herrera is one of my absolute favorite designers and I ALWAYS look forward to her shows. Her pieces are so classic and timeless- the kind that you can wear over and over again for special events and always be complimented on a new aspect. Dyl, Chris, and I truly enjoyed each moment we spent at the show.
The Carolina Herrera show was *extra* special because we were also celebrating her new perfume called Good Girl. Dylan and I instantly fell in love with the fragrance of Good Girl Eau De Parfum, and I personally love how it celebrates the duality and femininity of modern women. Plus it comes in the CUTEST bottle!! Highly recommend giving it a try 🙂
I live for doing these kinds of things with my family and I’m so grateful for everything we got to experience. I can’t wait to see how this experience will shape Dylan’s dreams and goals, and only hope that Dylan will use this as a piece of inspiration for all of her future endeavors. If there’s one thing that you take away from NYFW, it’s that hard work, dedication, and attention to detail TRULY pays off.
This was a NYFW for the books and I don’t think any of us will ever forget it. For a more behind-the-scenes look at my fashion week experience with Dylan, check out this IGTV video I shared on my Instagram 🙂
